East meets West is rousing, extemporaneous and extant with hard ass selection, ripe and ribald with Ray Vega's uproarious Latin rhymes and Thomas Marriott's big full hard lines. These two, in unison, as you ponder those 'ye olde' hard bop times.
I swear you can hear Lee Morgan riffing on Horace Silver's "Juicy Lucy." And if you can recall those days with Lee Morgan with the Jazz Messengers blowing real smoke, drink coffee and draggin a Lucky Strike on the bandstand.
"East -West Trumpet Summit" with Thomas Marriott and Ray Vega trading licks is hard core bop to the behold est.
