, Three recipients of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Jazz Masters Award (our nation's highest honor in jazz), Jimmy Heath, Barry Harris and Joe Wilder, join with Benny Powell, Tootie Heath and David Wong to pay homage to late bassist Earl May who joined them all onstage at Flushing Town Hall last year. May was a protegee of Charles Mingus and a member of Dr. Billy Taylor's band. He played with Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Mercer Ellington and John Coltrane. The program will feature jazz standards, ballads, and Earl May favorites.
